Ironing - not for the faint of heart

A little while back smath pulled out the iron in our apartment... my immediate reaction was probably somewhat similar to what would happen if I saw a 10 year old walking around with a shotgun.

As it turned out, this iron had already fallen into the hands of someone who shouldn't have been using it.

Living in a rented furnished apartment here in Buenos Aires. This sent chills down our spines. Scott <a href="http://scotthadfield.ca/2...

A couple weeks ago I visited Iguazu Falls with Sam and my parents. Iguazu falls (aka Cataratas del Iguazu) are in the most north east corner of Argentina where the borders of Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil all meet. My parents paid for the trip as a birthday present to me.

The majority of the falls are within Argentina's border, with a small part of them in Brazil. The Brazilian side supposedly has some amazing views of the falls but unfortunately due to our not acting fast enough on the Brazilian visa front we couldn't visit that side. But no matter, the Argentinian side of the falls easily filled up our two days completely.

Merry Christmas!

Just thought I'd write a quick blog post to wish everyone a merry christmas. Most people who read my blog are hopefully enjoying the snow. It doesn't feel all that christmassy here, though everything is closed and the streets are as dead as I've ever seen them. We've so far spent the day watching some episodes of heroes and walking around town a bit. Dinner tonight will be chicken parmigiana. Not much turkey here... or snow!

Weather in BsAs for December 25 through December 30

Hope everyone has a great day with family and not stranded by the weather anywhere.

Feliz Navidad!

El Tigre is a small fishing village about 30km north of Buenos Aires, along the Parana River Delta at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata river. We made a day trip up there and it was well worth it. The 1h long train ride cost us 2.20ARS round trip (~80c CAD !!). Probably the cheapest trip I've ever had :).

El Tigre's main highlights include river boat excursions, an amusement park, a huge market (Puerto de Frutos), and a casino. Though it's a pretty small town, it took us a little while to find our way around...

What's for breakfast? How about 175 thousand calories?

Out of habit I look at the label of pretty much everything at the grocery store before purchasing it. Not for any health reasons, just habit really. Sometimes the labels are in foreign languages that I don't speak, but that rarely stops me.

Yesterday at the grocery store I found this gem:

175,980 calories. YUM!
